a fun thing that happens during this process is you'll have these private companies hire the ejected government employees who are experts in their respective field. the private company will then contract with the government to replace the lost function or service

so you have the exact same people doing the exact same labor but now you have a CEO/board of directors and a shit ton of other overhead costs in addition to the base cost of labor. This means the amount of services per tax payer dollar falls drastically. All in the name of "efficiency" and "lowering costs"

i know getting the new iphone update may disqualify me but i'm seriously going to be carrying around an ipod in addition to my phone for the forseeable future because i can no longer sync my phone to my computer because the operating system on the computer is too old and the computer is too old to get an update and because i don't use streaming services and my music is coming from cds... i've always said this is my last iphone my most helpful newer device is actually my watch because of the tracking but i will wait until they stop updating it and then i will leave the country and get a phone from 2008 and then my ipod won't be redundant the worst part is if i found my music on my old backup a day sooner i wouldn't be in this mess i would have godspell on my phone and that would be that

I seriously do not get how people don't understand this. The absolute dependence so many have with AI, so quickly, is utterly baffling. They've completely given up all thought, all pursuit, all effort because it's the Cool New Thing.

We will NEVER be able to look at content online any more without thinking "Is this AI?".

From funny voices and videos of famous people playing CoD, to fake smear campaigns, product placements and scams using those very same voices and faces.

How about academics? Why bother writing a paper on a subject when AI can do it for you? Teachers not bothering to create course work because it's easier to have an AI plan a lesson for you. Doesn't matter if the information is incorrect because the person checking the work isn't real! It's yet another AI, working off of the same bungled data that yours spewed information from.

People are giving up the very idea of THINKING, of CREATIVITY and CONNECTION to a machine purely for the sake of convenience.

and then they try to say oh we need the efficiency to stay competitive shut the fuck up do you care about being trustworthy? what happens when someone finds out? don’t you think you should use your brain to do what you know how to do efficiently than ask a robot that is going to do it wrong the first time furthermore to say i understand where you’re coming from but we still want to use it what are we even doing and what happens when they see it in your proposal because i know it’s there i see it when i read them why would they ever trust you to do the work you were hired to do? so badly i want to wave a magic wand make it all go away and everyone who has become reliant on it has to suffer maybe i am a vengeful god i don’t care i know people think i live in an alternate universe where airborne viruses exist and i don’t say anything about because i know people don’t agree but the one time i accidentally flip out about ai in the workplace which i know is inappropriate and i know what i said was wrong it becomes about efficiency and a bunch of other bs rather than im trying to follow protocol that we are trying to implement but when you push me over the edge with all this fucking ai bs im going to snap i do my best to remove myself from the situations where it is discussed or to zone out when they talk about it but when you are being directly addressed you can’t do that and there were ways around it sure i should have done things differently but jfc do we not care about quality work? and for the record i could have done the task without it but the only reason i went to ask was because of the protocol we were doing and i literally asked if i should just do it before going to ask someone else to do it of course i forgot about that part but does it really matter it’s a slap on the wrist but im not immune to spiraling

i just can't convey the frustration and sorrow that it's been to grow up at first without the internet and then watching it bloom into this useful, fun, connecting force you sometimes spent time on, only for it to degrade into this constant oppressive waste of time and energy where people are constantly pumping out algorithmically designed content for max algorithmic appeal and even the most simple search generates either no results or an infinite abyss of ai generated slop none of which is usable or correct. we briefly had a library of alexandria and then fed it into a paper shredder so advertisers could sell a random mash of pulp back to us at a premium.
